(CNN) — Daniil Medvedev has become this year’s US Open villain.
The Russian defeated Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 7-6(1), 4-6, 7-6(7), 6-4 — his second four-set triumph in consecutive days — but it turned out his unruly behaviour in the court that had supporters lustily booing that the 23-year-old at Louis Armstrong Stadium at Friday’s night session.
Medvedev first got in the first place under the fans’ skin, after he angrily grabbed a towel from a 28, when he obtained a code violation. His racquet threw when learning of the violation that seat umpire Damien Dumusois had given him.
Later, following a confrontation with Dumusois, TV cameras picked up Medvedev putting a hand into his head giving the finger — outside of the view of Dumusois. Boos rained down in the audience, and Lopez immediately became the fan favorite.
Medvedev lifted his arms up , motioning to the audience to keep going, after he won, surrounded by boos.
“Thank you all, guys, because your energy tonight gave me the triumph,” Medvedev said in an interview on court. “Because if you’re not here, men, I probably would drop the match. I had been cramping because I was so tired. It had been so tough. So I need every one of you to be aware of when you sleep tonight, I won because of you.”
The boos continued.
“The energy you’re giving me right now, guys, I believe it’ll be enough for the five following matches. I meanthe more you do so, the more I’ll win for you guys.”

When it comes to Medvedev, controversy is nothing new. In 2017 in Wimbledon, he had been fined $14,500 for many infractions, such as tossing coins at the management of chair umpire Mariana Alves after a five-set loss.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is at Martinsville Speedway this weekend, and with Kyle Busch winning at Phoenix and Fontana within the previous two weeks, he’s been set up as a heavy favorite for today’s STP 500 in”The Paperclip”–and for good reason: Rowdy has not finished outside of the top 5 at this track because the 2014 season, and he has led a combined 582 laps within the previous four (and 937 within the previous six). Of course, whenever you have the favorite at +150 to win, that means there is some great significance in betting others in case that guy has issues throughout the race.

Last weekend in Car Club Speedway my favorite bets went 2-0, bringing my yearly record to 5-3. I’d Brad Keselowski to finish top 3, along with his day went south early, so that was screwed from the start.

Martin Truex, Jr.. Top 3 End (+200) — The races at Martinsville are generally predictable: we see the exact same faces up front again and again, and we do not see Martin Truex, Jr. in victory lane. Where we do see him, though, is close enough to win in case something goes wrong with the leader. Over the previous three races in”The Paperclip,” Truex has posted finishes of 3rd, 4th, and 2nd, although he begins back in 8th for the STP 500, he’s got one hell of a race car underneath him to get to the front. The 19 Toyota ranked #1 at 10-, 15-, 20-, and 30-lap average during the last practice session here on Saturday, and there is going to be lots of runs during the race. Truex will shine during these. When you study this week’s ranks by the Fantasy Racing On line algorithm, Truex is a really close 4th behind Logano, and if you look at recent trends by pole sitters in the spring Martinsville race, then I’d give that advantage to Truex.

Chris Buescher (+105) over Daniel Hemric — I am honestly surprised Chris Buescher is not getting more adore this weekend. This #37 team hasn’t finished worse than 18th since the Daytona 500, plus they have got a good starting place for the current STP 500 (12th). Meanwhile, the Hemric will start from back in 28th, and has a tendency to hit the wall more often than not. We’ve got 500 laps to race in today’s STP 500, and to be honest, I am not sure he finishes. On the other hand, Buescher has completed 13th, 23rd, 21st, and 11th in his past four Martinsville starts, and he is running better than he’s likely ever conducted. This one is a no brainer for me.
