Andy Flower leaves England Lions role and departs ECB

Former England head coach Andy Flower is leaving his post as coach of the Lions and departing the ECB.
Flower has been working for its previous five-and-a-half decades together with the Lions. Before taking up the role of head coach in 2009, the Zimbabwean was an assistant trainer with the senior England team in 2007.
England was led by the 51-year-old to No 1 in the Test rankings in 2011, but pointed into some Ashes series win over Australia prior to it during his tenure as one of his highlights.
The Ashes victory in 2010-11 stands outside, he explained.
Its hard to acquire in Australia and to do it so comprehensively was a really proud moment in my coaching career. It was amazing to see those men have a wonderful time doing this and take on that challenge efficiently.
The win in India in 2012-13 was a highlight too, to conquer some great players in demanding turning conditions was a special success.
So was that the T20 World Cup triumph in 2010. How we played our cricket, with this liberty and aggression, actually was enjoyable to be a part of.
Flower said he was pleased to have played an essential role and grateful for the help he received while.
Id like to thank the captains I labored with longest, Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss, because of their commitment and friendship through time, he added.
Its been a chance to utilize all the players. From time to time, in environments, as a mentor and a mentor you maintain a very responsible position.
You wind up sharing a few really intimate moments – over a beer in the dressing room, working hard together in the baits, or even listening to some personal difficulty and helping them work through that – and it is a chance to have the ability to contribute and affect these young guys lives.
