This months El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid was postponed due to fears of unrest.
There were days of demonstration in Barcelona after nine Catalan separatist leaders had been detained on Monday although the game was scheduled for 26.
Before this week, La Liga requested the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to switch the game to Madrid.
That a new date must be agreed by the clubs by Monday.
Manager Ernesto Valverde had said the Barcelona were because they play off to Slavia Prague in the Champions League on 23 October, three days before El Clasico had been scheduled contrary to shifting the game to Madrid.
La Liga produced the postponement request because ofunique circumstances beyond our control as more protests are expected in Barcelona over the day of the game.
Protests have turned with protesters clashing with riot police into a fourth day in the Catalonia region of Spain. At least 96 people are hurt throughout the region.
Catalonia is a semi-autonomous region in north-east Spain and in a referendum on 1 October 2017, declared prohibited by Spains Constitutional Court, roughly 90% of Catalan votes throw endorsed liberty. Turnout was 43%.
The two separatist leaders handed jail sentences of between two and 13 years by the Supreme Court of Spain and were convicted of sedition over their part in the referendum.
