Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp states Manchester City will be the best team on earth.
Liverpool are five points clear of reigning champions City and are top of their Premier League table after an ideal start to their campaign.
But Klopp considers City – that have averaged 99 points in the two Premier League seasons – are outstanding to his Liverpool side.
“We might not be the best group in Europe since Manchester City will be the best team in the world – and that is exactly the identical planet I have heard,” Klopp said ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League opener against Napoli.
“There are a whole lot of good teams out there and also you need to prove that [you’re up with all the best] constantly.
“Last year, we were really great. I am not sure we were the best group in Europe, however, we were very good in the perfect moments and that is the reason why we won the Champions League.”
Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0 in last year’s Champions League final in Madrid to win their sixth European name, however, Klopp says that his group will not feel burdened by heading into the contest of this season as winners.
“We don’t feel the burden since I really don’t know precisely how that should feel to be honest,” said the German.
“It’s long past. Three or four weeks. The issue keeps coming up regarding if teams will play . I don’t have any clue to be fair.
“I never went into a Champions League year, winning the Champions League the year before, thus we will encounter that [collectively for the very first time]. I hope we’re ready for that.”
