Our NFL Sunday of This season Starts with the Cleveland Browns hosting the Tennessee Titans, exclusively live on Sky Sports Action and Main Event.
This is what to expect…
Even the Browns (7-8-1 final year ) are the talk of the league this offseason. Yes, they had their very best season since 2007 year, but they still didn’t make the playoffs, and they have not made it . Their drought is the longest in the group, and they haven’t won a postseason matchup for 21 seasons!
That said, they are no joke heading into 2019. Equipped with two recent No 1 total NFL Draft selections on defense and offense (Baker Mayfield and Myles Garrett) and now stocked with attacking ability, Cleveland could finally make some noise in December and January.
Tennesee (9-7), meanwhile, are the model of mediocrity in the previous three seasons, having achieved a 9-7 record at each. They handled Wild Card triumph in 2017 but missed out in 2016 and year although a.
They do not have big names on crime, or even a’celebrity’ quarterback like Mayfield, but they are a aggressive all-around team under head coach Mike Vrabel. How far they go depends upon what they are able to expect from QB Marcus Mariota, who threw as many touchdowns in his past two seasons (26) as he did at the one earlier. Would he move this team forward and step up?
This past summer, Most of us would like to see Odell Beckham Jr on the field from the New York Giants after his blockbuster trade. Through his first five seasons, Beckham has averaged 92.8 yards per game – that is second one time supporting Julio Jones (96.7) – and handled 44 touchdowns at 56 starts. Assuming he is healthy, he is the player to see.
Tennesee don’t have many players that steal your spotlight as stated previously, however much is expected of running back Derrick Henry. He cracked 1,000 rushing yards last season, but 238 of them came in 1 run in one match and 99! His participation will be enormous for the Titans this season as Mariota desires help.
Keep a close watch on Harold Landry that is pass-rusher. The 2018 second-round draft select managed 4.5 sacks last year in limited action, but will be the focus of the team’s pressure this season.
Before this week, Mayfield told Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer:”I have full confidence in all our playmakers, our skill position guys that if they’ve one-on-ones, they need to be licking their chops and they must all take that as disrespect because that’s the sort of staff we have and we need to take advantage of.
“It’s going to resemble a lot of matchups that we can take advantage of, a numbers game.”
The fighting talk is certainly not a surprise coming from the trash-talking QB – the Browns’ external weapons compared to the Titans’ secondary will be a massive factor in the game – however, it is certainly not likely to be a cakewalk for Beckham, Jarvis Landry, tight end David Njoku and next wide receiver Rashard Higgins.
Tennessee boast the 2017 interception pioneer Kevin Byard, the guy who left the many memorable interception in Super Bowl history (Malcolm Butler), and another two-time Super Bowl champ in Logan Ryan.
It might not be simple for both business and Mayfield although it’ll be hard for everyone to account for several of the offensive resources of Cleveland this season.
