Dallas Mavericks

The lead is nonetheless remarkable given the strength of the freshman course When it may be premature to announce Luka Doncic this season’s Rookie of the Year.
The 20-year-old is already keeping company. Today if the effort closed, he would join Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson as the only two rookies to average 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists. He’s even blown projections that were optimistic about his NBA-ready abilities out of the water. The Dallas Mavericks did not stop at the same unicorn. They rolled the dice on a second ahead of the deadline, landing 7’3″ shot-blocker and three-point sniper Kristaps Porzingis. Sure, he’s coming off an ACL tear and won’t play with this season, before heading down, but he do stuff.
Pairing Doncic and Porzingis together gives its long-awaited blueprint for the Nowitzki age to Dallas, and the ceiling is currently high enough to turn that strategy.
“Dallas currently has two gamers under the age of 25 who could be the top two players on a tournament team,” The Ringer’s Jonathan Tjarks wrote. “Just about every team in the league could kill for that chance.”
The Mavs also created major spending cash for this summer, and also a lucky bounce of a couple of balls could retain their top-five-protected pick from the Hawks. While factoring in the risks a restricted free agent this offseason, Dallas’ future looks blindingly bright.
