Mauricio Pochettino states Kieran Trippier tried to get him to explain he believed that his words was”twisted” while on international duty, when he appeared to criticise the club’s handling of his departure.
The England right-back claimed last week that he”didn’t really get an answer” when he requested the chairman Daniel Levy about his future in the summer, prior to a #22m change to Atletico Madrid.
Pochettino revealed Trippier sent a text to him but he didn’t get it after changing amounts, leaving Harry Kane to pass from duty.
The Spurs boss explained:”I didn’t see [Trippier’s comments], but I noticed about it. I am able to explain how I am feeling. We had a dialogue where he clarified he was going to move to Atletico Madrid – nothing much longer.
“Yesterday (Wednesday) when Harry Kane arrived back he said to me’did you get Kieran’s text?’ I said’no’ since my number changed. Maybe because he does not have the amount that is brand new.
“Since he think his words were I do not know nothing longer. Kieran interpreted this message throughout Harry Kane to me. He wished to tell me. But I’ve got no issue.
“In soccer decisions occur and gamers move from one club to the next. We need to move on and what happened happened and be happy there and he wants to consider Atletico Madrid.
“There is no point to talk about if something happened or did not happen. The fact is who’s appropriate in all this process, although one reality? There is no point in talking. But I keep very good memories from him.”
“Following the summer that he came to see me, he asked me to get a meeting and stated’gaffer, I believe I have a fantastic possibility and for different reasons I would love to take the offer in Atletico Madrid’.
“He didn’t ask me – only communicated whether the club were planning to take the offer. Nothing more.
“It was not a dialogue – you want me? Or you do not need me? It had been very clear. He performed the final, when I had plenty of different options, with Serge Aurier, Kyle Walker-Peters, Davinson Sanchez. But he played with the closing. My actions talk more than my mouth.”
